The exhaustion of constantly advocating

My COS is helping- and I know I need to keep advocating, but I’m exhausted! This is after the 5th review in 14 months. When we had the initial review appointment- it was super quick with the LAC saying the plan will roll over- and it did for about 6 weeks. For some reason it was reassessed, and they cut $20k off her funding and cut COS, I asked for a review and it was approved- when that review came back they had cut a further $10k - all from therapy this time and still no COS. I wrote a huge letter about why we needed COS and more psych. They said this can be reviewed- next plan came in, and I got a tiny bit more in therapy but they had totally cut behavioural therapy and still no COS! Finally got COS, behavioural therapy and psych, but they cut out all core funding!!! Seriously WTF! my LAC that I swapped to after he got amazing results with my sons plan, said he was so blown away and is urging me to write official complaints- but I’m exhausted!

The system is well and truly broken. When NDIS is done right, it’s magic. Unfortunately I hear stories like yours more often than not 😢 You are doing an amazing job hun xx

Take a break Mumma then decide what you want to do. I tried twice with my sons after his was cut 20k. I then gave up but regretted it because it's exactly what they expect us to do. The system is not fair at all. I'm sorry you're going through this.

You can try to appeal NDIS final decision by going to the Appeals Tribunal (AAT). It’s a pain but it’s worth a try. Gather your docs, reports and evidence. I recommend to address the NDIS criteria especially under what is ‘reasonable and necessary’. Good luck!
