Birthday parties 😟
Im wondering if anyone has any ideas for birthday parties for a 9th birthday?
My daughter always loves the idea of celebrating her birthday, but when it comes to the party has an awful time. I haven’t worked out if it’s the attention, the noise, the overwhelm of excitement… or all of the above.
She’s set on having a party but I know she’ll likely spend the whole event hiding under a table (literally).
Any ideas on low sensory but still fun party venues?
The thought of a party overwhelmed my daughter last year but she desperately wanted an art party, she was so anxious about it being somewhere though so l held my own one at home with a few of her closest friends she absolutely loved it, as did her friends
For my daughter’s 10th birthday (5 yrs ago)- her and her friends were into makeup and taking photos. A friend did their ‘makeup’ (very light- just to make them feel special), we had some backgrounds set up and a box of photo props, I purchased them a few disposable cameras, and they used my digital camera, phone, iPad and had a great time taking photos of themselves. It was all at home, using different walls around the house.
A cupcake decorating party is often popular with girls. Some piping bags of icing, cupcakes, fondant decorations. One to eat at the party and a little box to take one or two home as a party pag.
Where are you located? I know in Sydney we have the Shine Shed that offers an awesome party for our Kiddos. It has an amazing quiet sensory room. There are two other places aswell but the names have slipped my mind atm. One is in Penrith the other Weatherill park from memory.
How about a movie with two friends . Or lunch at a nice cafe . A picnic at a park where it is outside . I find if the party is smaller then that seems to work better less people , less noise .
