OT travel charges

Hey all, so my youngest finally has an OT he will talk to. They visit us at home. We are the last family they visit on our given day. We are thankfully an NDIS participant however, they are Charing x2 lots of travel to get to us. That’s x2 $198. What do you peeps think about that? I think it’s taking advantage of the NDIS but the new OT is soooo good! What to do, what to do?

What have they got set out for travel in your service agreement?

Head to page 18 and 19 to find out details on what they can charge. There is an example on page 22 for capacity building support https://www.ndis.gov.au/media/4350/download?attachment

It’s a new agreement and we are the last of the day so they charge travel to our house and home. The issue being they are are charging the maximum amount allowable by NDIS. If fhe OT wasn’t so good I would be moving on.

It looks like they are charging 2 hours of travel. Is that how long it takes for them to get to and from your house? It's good that you've found an OT that's suits, they can be hard to come by. There are so many factors to consider before moving on. It's hard when something like travel gets in the way.

Can you discuss this with them? It’s seems extreme. You will chew through your funding very quickly!

that’s what I’m worried about and I’ve finally found a good OT that works with my little guy.

If there’s two one hour sessions claimed for travel plus the claim for the session that’s extreme! Two thirds of the funding going to travel :0

I know right! We are going to try and not be the last client of the day, and perhaps have some sessions at school also.
