Swimming refusal
First time posting in this wonderful Kindship community. But wanted to know if anyone has experienced their child doing swimming lessons then refusing? My sweet boy has come along away from not being able to get into the water to being able to swim to now not wanting to go at all 😭
We have had this as well, but ours is from a trauma with water at a young age, atm he won’t go in the pool because it’s too loud, is it indoor swimming by any chance?
This happened with my son. We tried a few different places and I'm the end he just refused so I haven't pushed it. He was able to tell me he hated being touched on his stomach but I think it was all just too much.
Hi my daughter is a swim teacher& sister of an ASD 17yo. She sees this often. It’s quite normal for these kids to fluctuate from loving something then hating it. It’s ok to give them a break & I agree that sometimes it’s all too much but they don’t have the words to tell you. As long as you have given your child an opportunity that’s enough. 😀
yes many disruptions for him and we all know our young ones don't cope with any change at all lol but I've unfortunately pulled him from lessons for the time being as I don't want to force him and still keep paying for the lessons. Thank you so much for your response 😊
