Hi, I'm not to sure about this as I haven't navigated this path yet but just wanted to say I hope it goes well for you both. Hopefully someone else can you some more information 🙂

I do not have a child that age however I have heard some amazing stories over the years of teens having jobs and being successful within their employment, I have also heard and read stories of teens starting their own businesses. So it is possible.

Hi My eldest son who is now 18 had 2 Casual jobs 1 at Red Rooster and 1 at KFC as an after school job when he was younger. I found KFC to b a better company to work for out of the two, a bit more accepting of his abilities. For him he loved to work but neither company would give him enough hours to suit that’s why he ended up working at both jobs. We have moved on from after school jobs now and my son has been lucky enough to find a job with his Dad but I’ve realised along the way that as much as some bosses say when they’re hiring someone with a disability that they understand and things will b different but thats not always true unfortunately. Good luck to ur child on their working adventures As for carers payment I’m not sure as I don’t receive that payment, but you could always ring Centrelink and ask if no one on here knows.

Thankyou I’m so worried about customers telling her off

I dont think the child's work would affect carer payment. My son worked at McDonalds and it was great gor him. This is a few years ago. It was a Disability Employment Service that helped him find this part-time job. Worth trying one of your local DES providers.

My daughter actually just turned 15 and started at a new job- has only done 3 shifts so far- just 3 hrs each at a little cafe- the owners are so amazing and willing to help and guide her. I was worried how she would go with her anxiety more than anything else, she is extremely sensitive to any sort of ‘criticism’ but so far so good. Wont affect any sort of payment until they work full time I don’t think
