The Power of Connection with mums that just get it

A few years ago, we were all strangers. All mums of kids with disabilities, living unaware of each other’s existence. Many of us felt isolated, lonely, and like no one understood the road our family was travelling. That was until our parenting journey connected us! Now we have a possé of kick ass mums who just get it. We laugh together, cry together and support one another. We’ve become the “village” (that people always tell us about), that it takes to raise a child… but is often missing when raising a child with a disability. Don’t underestimate the power on online friendships and the capacity that Kindship has to grow your support network and friendship circle 🧡 It’s been life changing for us to feel heard, supported and understood. Don’t be afraid to make these connections. There’s some phenomenal parents in our community!

100% If you had had told me a few years ago I’d be celebrating my birthday with a dozen incredible, true friends, I’d have laughed in your face. But, by connecting with so many women online, I have built the most solid friendships and cherished I’ve ever had. I’m looking at this photo going, “hey, that’s me!” Me with my friends who started as strangers in and online community. Putting ourselves outside our comfort zone can truly be the most rewarding thing we ever do for ourselves x

It can be hard (I feel) to make the time to see your village in person when navigating life with an ND child. Online communities like Kindship have been a saving grace for my mental health and that inherent human desire to make connections. It’s connection, done a modern way. So grateful ♥️

So brilliant! ❤️ I still find it difficult to connect and make time between work and home and miss those connections and mums play groups I had with my first two children. So much gets left behind when you have a non verbal child
