Challenging school behaviours, ADHD and dyslexia... advice please

This week has been a full on one for my oldest son. He is struggling at school with his behaviour. He is ADHD and dyslexic. The school is trying to support him with limited resources (at the moment they are struggling to get relief teachers, support etc.) We know writing is a trigger and his is literacy block, the teacher is trying to help him, even to the point of writing everything down to copy. He won't even try, tells the teacher I am not doing it, you can't make me, plus other stuff and in cases leaves the classroom. This has resulted in him losing his in class fun computer time. I have a meeting with the support co ordinator next week to discuss what way we can support him and will ask if he is able to get some in class support. Last year for a term he got 5hr per week. I am also noticing this behaviour at home. I ask him to do anything, it is pretty much no I am not doing it! You are not the boss of me! My concern is also him becoming rude, disrespectful to everyone and not understanding how dangerous some of the situations are. Eg running and hiding. I know the behaviours are more complicated, but I am struggling today. Has anyone had a child with these types of behaviours? If so how did you address it?

Firstly, good on you for reaching out. Sometimes it’s hard to ask for help with these types of situations. With the school issues, have they tried letting him type his responses/notes on computer rather than writing? What are his interests? Can they link learning activities to something he’s really interested in? What types of things at home is he reacting to? I have found with my daughter, asking her to do things used to get a wild “NO!” Eg with asking her to brush her teeth. So now I say something like “oh no! Teeth are dirty!” And have toothbrush ready and out, the she’s choosing to clean them.

They have late last year, with the pretty much the same response or him closing down the program and playing the educational game he wanted to play. In home learning, I had the same thing I struggled to get him to do any work. Last year was really interested in gaming, so the school had him on a coding app. This year he doesn't want to even go near it as it is too hard. At home asking him to do anything is responded with a no or why? He only seems to help if I have lost it and then takes it on himself to boss his brothers around, rather than put the lunch box In his bag for example. :(

So update... he got suspended today. I dropped him back to school after an appointment and he didn't go back to class, and then when asked to go to the office he went and hid on the playground.
