Skills development training

The funny thing about life is we never stop learning, there’s always another skill to tackle. This week, I’m working on my cross-stitch. Fortunately, the NDIS recognises that our children sometimes need one-on-one skill training and provides funding for this across a whole bucket of activities depending on their support needs and interests. Got a budding chef in your kitchen? There’s training for that! The same goes for kiddos wanting to learn how to manage their money and make a bunch of friends.

Let's explore how skills development training can align with NDIS goals for participants and their families:

1. Cooking Up Confidence: Have a budding masterchef at home? The NDIS funds cooking classes that transform them from spectators to creators. From chopping veggies to whipping up scrumptious recipes, they'll not only feed the stomach but also the soul, nourishing their self-confidence.

2. Pennies and Pounds: Money makes the world go ‘round, and with money management workshops, your child will learn the ins and outs of budgeting, saving, and handling finances. Whether it's saving for that new game or managing monthly expenses, they’ll be on the path to financial wisdom.

3. Navigating the Social Landscape: Building and nurturing relationships is a lifelong journey. NDIS-funded social skills training sharpens communication, boosts empathy, and polishes social etiquette. It’s all about connecting, relating, and building lasting bonds.

4. Stepping into the Workforce: Dream jobs start with preparation. With job readiness training, everything from crafting a standout resume to acing that interview becomes achievable. The NDIS is here to pave the path to meaningful employment.

5. Tech-Savvy Adventures: In this digital age, technology is our window to the world. Tech workshops funded by the NDIS make sure your youngster isn’t left behind. Whether it’s mastering a new app or getting the hang of a gadget, they’ll be set to surf the digital wave.

6. Health, Heart, and Harmony: A sound body houses a sound mind. Health and fitness programs, backed by the NDIS, offer everything from fun exercise routines to nutrition nuggets, ensuring a well-rounded, holistic approach to wellness.

7. Daily Mastery: The beauty of these programs lies in their focus on everyday life. Whether it's mastering the art of using public transport or adopting self-care routines, every skill acquired fosters independence and self-sufficiency.

With the NDIS by our side, the possibilities for skill development are as vast as the Australian sky. Dive deep, explore, and watch as your child soars to new heights.

While I've put my heart into aligning these tips with your NDIS path, the road can have its twists. Remember, these are just suggestions. Dive in, explore, and find what truly works for you. Sending you all my best vibes!

You're the best judge of whether this service fits your child's goals or not.
