Any tips on getting my son's foot in an ice skate?

Can you try some things to counter the sensory impact of the skates, maybe some Hubba Bubba in his mouth, an ice cream, a squishy toy or something to fidget with in his hand. These things help distract the nervous system from focusing on the overwhelm.
Sometimes, as you are well aware Im sure, it does take time and its that they need motivation to be invested in the activity to overcome the discomfort.

unfortunately he only wears one type/style of socks 😕

I know when I was younger I hated the feeling too. I had to wear super thick socks as I find they are to hard on my sensitive skin
